Work @ the Wilds:
Forest Remnant Ecology

Participating Partners: Ohio University; Muskingum College

Summary: Although mining activities took place throughout most of the area at the Wilds, there are pockets of native forest remnants that were not directly impacted. By studying these areas, we can gain insight into the original ecological state. We are targeting several trophic levels including soil dwelling organisms, herbaceous and woody vegetation, small mammals, and predators and comparing them to disturbance parameters of several woodland remnant areas.
